I'm supporting a well-established public sector organisation that's looking for an Environmental Health Officer to join their team on an interim basis. The role focuses on delivering core environmental health functions to protect public health and ensure safe standards across the local area. Key Responsibilities: Carry out inspections, investigations, and enforcement activities in line with relevant legislation. Lead on food safety, health and safety, environmental protection, nuisance, and housing standards work as required. Prepare clear reports, maintain accurate records, and offer professional advice to businesses and the public. Respond to service requests and support the team during times of increased demand. Represent the organisation at meetings, hearings, and multi-agency discussions where needed. Take Part in shift rota 2 weeks days, 2 weeks Nights, 12 hour shift pattern Qualifications & Essential Requirements a) Academic Requirements Applicants must meet one of the following: i) Hold a BSc or MSc in Environmental Health approved by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH); or ii) Hold a qualification acceptable to the Environmental Health Registration Board (EHRB), such as the Diploma in Environmental Health awarded by CIEH (or a recognised historical equivalent); or iii) Be a final-year student on an approved BSc or MSc Environmental Health programme, graduating by 30 September 2025. Appointment will be subject to official confirmation that the degree has been conferred. b) Professional Registration Hold a Certificate of Registration with the Environmental Health Officers' Registration Board (EHORB) or be a Registered Environmental Health Practitioner (EHP) with CIEH. If not already registered, the successful candidate must complete the registration process and any required CIEH assessments within 18 months of appointment. c) Driving Licence A full, current driving licence valid for use in Northern Ireland and access to a car for business use, or access to transport that enables the candidate to meet the mobility requirements of the post in full.
