As GNC / AOCS Concept Engineer you will be part of growing team helping solve the environmental impact of space flight.
As GNC / AOCS Concept Engineer youwill be responsible for orbit determination and GNC/AOCS system development, simulation and mathematical modelling, and performance analysis to understand and solve challenges.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include
* Performing mission analysis on UK led mission architectures and spacecraft trajectories across the mission lifecycle from concept definition to flight operations.
* Leading mission design and manoeuvre planning activities from rendezvous through docking to ensuring optimal fuelling profiles.
* Leading the analysis of on-orbit operations and mission architectures, including orbital mechanics and constellation design.
* Developing shuttle mission operations profiles and planning tools.
* Developing tools and analysis to support depot and shuttle mission design.
* Analysing GNC system performance for depots and shuttles.
* Provide input to operations planning for spacecraft.
* Identify and resolve GNC performance-related issues and assist others in the resolution of issues, including AOCS.
Experience required
* Be educated to PhD, MSc or equivalent in Engineer or other related field with a focus on GN&C, flight controls, orbital mechanics.
* Strong commercial experience developing simulations to analyse spacecraft trajectories and GNC performance.
* Strong commercial experience developing GNC algorithms and analysing system performance for spacecraft in an integrated GNC environment.
* Commercial experience with
o Orbital mechanics and spaceflight dynamics.
o Developing, verifying, and validating simulations, math models, etc.
o Developing algorithms for guidance, navigation and control functions.
o GMAT, STK or other applicable astrodynamics tools
o Matlab, Python, or similar.
* Experience with the following would be an advantage
o Simulink toolboxes and Embedded Coder
o Systems engineering and requirements management tools such as Asana, Valispace, Jira, Jama, or similar.
o Developing flight software.
o Control systems including spacecraft Attitude Determination and Control systems
o Computer vision, sensor fusion, and machine learning
