About the Role
As a Support Worker, you will play a key role in helping children with learning disabilities lead fulfilling and independent lives. You will assist in their day-to-day activities, personal care, and emotional development, all while ensuring they are safe, supported, and valued. Working as part of a close-knit team, you will help create a nurturing environment that encourages growth and independence.
Key Responsibilities

Provide direct care and support to children, ensuring their safety, dignity, and well-being are maintained.

Assist with personal care tasks such as hygiene, dressing, and feeding.

Support children in educational and recreational activities both in the home and the community, promoting social inclusion.
*
Build positive, trusting relationships to help with emotional development and self-confidence.
*
Develop and implement individual care plans, supporting children in their growth, learning, and independence.
*
Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and external professionals to ensure holistic care.
*
Maintain a clean, safe, and nurturing environment within the home.
*
Monitor progress, document behaviours, and note any changes in care needs.
*
Use de-escalation techniques and positive reinforcement to manage behaviours.
*
Safeguard the young people in your care, adhering to company policies and procedures.
Qualifications and Skills
*
Previous experience working with children, particularly those with learning disabilities or additional needs, is desirable.
*
A Diploma Level 4 in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People) or equivalent is advantageous but not essential.
*
Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with children and work within a team.
*
A caring, patient, and empathetic attitude with a commitment to the well-being of children with learning disabilities.
*
Ability to manage challenging behaviours in a professional, calm, and positive way.
*
Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays (sleep-in duties included).
*
A full driving licence with business insurance is required.
