A long-established, multidisciplinary design and business consultancy based in Telford is seeking a Town Planner to join its team. With over 30 years of experience, the organisation works across sectors including rural enterprise, garden centres, farm shops, leisure and tourism, commercial development, and minerals and waste. The consultancy is known for delivering strategic, creative and commercially successful projects, offering integrated services in business strategy, architecture, planning, landscape design, ecology and project delivery.
The Role
The Town Planner will contribute to the delivery of development projects from early concept through to planning approval. Working alongside business strategists, architects, landscape and ecological specialists, the planner will help produce planning applications, masterplans and supporting documentation. The role offers exposure to a wide range of engaging projects, particularly within rural businesses, destination retail, leisure schemes and commercial sites.
Key Responsibilities
Preparing, submitting and managing planning applications and appeals.
Undertaking site assessments, planning appraisals, policy reviews and impact analyses.
Liaising with local authorities, statutory consultees and clients.
Contributing to masterplanning and multidisciplinary design processes.
Supporting the delivery of sustainable, commercially viable development solutions.
Upholding the consultancy’s strong planning success rate through high-quality, evidence-based work.
Candidate Profile
Degree in Town Planning or a related discipline; MRTPI qualified or working toward accreditation.
Experience within consultancy or local authority planning.
Strong understanding of planning policy and development control.
Excellent written, verbal and analytical skills.
Collaborative working style within a multidisciplinary environment.
