Chichester District Foodbank, part of the Trussell network, supports people in the local community who are experiencing poverty and social exclusion. Working with referral partners, the foodbank provides vouchers that can be exchanged for a three-day supply of food and essential items such as nappies, hygiene products, and pet food. The organization collaborates closely with local charities and agencies to address the underlying causes of hardship, including unemployment, health challenges, abuse, addiction, and debt. Its work is focused on providing practical support while helping people move towards greater stability. Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Warehouse Manager role based in Chichester. The Warehouse Manager will oversee day-to-day warehouse operations, including receipt, storage, rotation, and distribution of food and essential supplies, ensuring all items are handled safely and efficiently. The role includes managing stock levels, maintaining accurate inventory records, and implementing processes to minimize waste and ensure consistent availability of key items. The post-holder will coordinate and support volunteers, organize shifts, provide training on safe handling and warehouse procedures, and foster an inclusive, respectful working environment. They will also ensure the warehouse is clean, well-organized, compliant with health and safety standards, and ready to respond quickly to changes in demand or emergency situations. The role involves regular liaison with other teams, partner organizations, and drivers to plan deliveries and collections.
Person Spec
* Strong stock and inventory skills, including Stock Control, Inventory Control, and Inventory Management.
* Experience in Operations Management, with the ability to design, implement, and improve warehouse workflows and procedures.
* Competence in Forklift Operation or similar material‑handling equipment, with relevant certification or willingness to obtain it.
* Experience in a warehouse, logistics, distribution, or supply chain environment, preferably in the charitable or not‑for‑profit sector.
* Proven ability to lead, coordinate, and support diverse teams, including volunteers, with clear communication and a collaborative approach.
* Good organizational and time‑management skills, with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
* Awareness of health and safety, food safety, and manual handling best practices, with a commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
* Basic IT literacy, including use of inventory or warehouse management systems and standard office software.

Salary: from £14.50 per hour, depending on experience
Pension: 3% Contribution from Chichester District Foodbank 5% Employee Contribution
Working Hours: 24 hours per week (Monday, Tuesday and Thursday) Holiday: 25 days plus bank holidays
