Contract Opportunity: Senior Mechanical Engineer
Location: North West (Hybrid – 1 day remote)
Contract Length: 12 months (with strong likelihood of extension)
Rate: Up to 51 per hour (Outside IR35)
Hours: 4–day week (Monday to Thursday, 10–hour days)
We're looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join a growing team delivering complex, safety–critical projects in the nuclear sector. This role is ideal for someone looking to step into a technically engaging position with strong long–term prospects and a supportive working environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Deliver high–quality mechanical design work in accordance with nuclear and project–specific standards.
* Produce and review engineering documentation including specifications, calculations, and drawings.
* Support and contribute to design reviews, HAZOPs, and risk assessments.
* Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to ensure effective technical delivery.
* Work across all phases of the project lifecycle, from concept to detailed design.
Ideal Candidate:
* Solid background in mechanical engineering within the nuclear sector.
* Experience in the design of safety–critical mechanical systems – glovebox experience is highly desirable.
* Familiar with nuclear regulatory standards and procedures (e.g., AWE, Sellafield).
* Strong communicator with good problem–solving skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
* Security Clearance (SC) is highly advantageous.
