This role has a starting salary of £54,63 per annum, based on a 36-hour working week. This is a full-time position but part-time applications are also welcomed.

We are seeking an experienced and self-motivated Occupational Therapist to join Connect to Community (C2C) as an Assistant Team Manager (Occupational Therapist). This is a practice-focused leadership role and applicants must be a qualified Occupational Therapist with current HCPC registration.

This is a hybrid role with the expectation of spending a minimum of 20% of the week in the office, as well as working in locations to meet the demands of the role as required.

About the Role

This post sits within Connect to Community (C2C) and combines professional leadership and line management with hands-on Occupational Therapy practice. The successful candidate will actively undertake OT work, including assessment, intervention and complex decision-making, alongside supporting and developing staff within the team.

As an Assistant Team Manager (OT), you will:

o Provide professional OT leadership within a multidisciplinary team.
o Deliver direct Occupational Therapy practice, including complex assessments and interventions.
o Offer reflective supervision and line management, particularly for OT staff.
o Support high-quality, timely decision-making at the front door of Adult Social Care.
o Deputise for the Team Manager when required.

This is not a purely managerial post — maintaining professional OT practice is a core and essential element of the role.

About Connect to Community (C2C)

Connect to Community (C2C) is the first point of response for adults seeking further support following initial triage by the Information and Advice Service. C2C places residents at the heart of everything we do and operates through a multi‑disciplinary, strengths‑based model.

C2C brings together colleagues from different disciplines to deliver a responsive, joined‑up service, reducing unnecessary handovers and ensuring people receive the right support at the right time. The service includes:

o Strengths‑based conversations and short‑term interventions
o Occupational Therapy assessments and support
o Safeguarding triage and risk management
o Mental Capacity Act work, including MCAs and welfare visits
o Urgent support planning
o Access to reablement, technology‑enabled care, housing advice and wider community resources

Cases remain within C2C until situations are stabilised or ready for seamless transfer, supporting better outcomes for residents and partners.

About the Role

The role involves leading and modelling high‑quality Occupational Therapy practice within C2C, ensuring that standards are consistently upheld. You will undertake complex Occupational Therapy assessments and interventions, with responsibility for urgent and high‑risk work where required.

You will provide professional supervision and guidance to staff, supporting ongoing practice development and maintaining a strong professional culture. They also contribute to safeguarding decision‑making, including Section 42 triage and effective risk management. A key aspect of the role is promoting reflective, evidence‑informed and strengths‑based practice across the service, while working collaboratively with health, housing, reablement and voluntary sector partners to deliver coordinated and effective support.

This is a varied and rewarding role that offers the opportunity to remain professionally grounded in Occupational Therapy practice while developing leadership skills. You will work within an innovative, front‑door, multidisciplinary model, influencing practice, decision‑making and outcomes at the earliest point of contact. You will also have the chance to be part of a supportive service with a strong focus on learning, collaboration and resident‑centred outcomes.

Shortlisting Criteria

In order to be considered for shortlisting, your application will clearly evidence the following skills and align with our behaviours :

o Hold a professional qualification in Occupational Therapy and current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
o Have substantial post‑qualification experience in adult social care or community settings
o Be confident undertaking complex OT practice, including risk, MCA and safeguarding work
o Have experience of providing professional supervision and contributing to practice development
o Be able to balance operational leadership with direct clinical OT work
o Be able to work autonomously and under pressure

Surrey has both urban and rural areas and locality based social care workers will be expected to have a valid driving licence to drive in the UK and access to a vehicle and be willing to travel across a wide geographical area.
