FCRMS Asset Management Business Systems Team Senior Advisor - 32232

Position: Senior Advisor within the Asset Management Business Systems Team (AMBST). Eligible for mid‑senior level, full‑time employment.

Job Description

The Environment Agency creates better places for people, wildlife, and the environment. We put the climate emergency at the heart of everything we do and help society adapt to environmental challenges such as flooding, drought, sea‑level rise, and coastal change. Our asset‑management business system includes carbon management, supporting the goal of becoming a Net Zero Carbon organisation. Carbon management is embedded in both the delivery of our infrastructure programme and in the management of assets.

The carbon‑management process is supported by existing and developing carbon tools that enable construction projects and suppliers to meet mandatory carbon‑assessment requirements, allowing the EA to produce a carbon footprint for all assets that need to be reduced over future years. The Asset Management Business Systems Team supports all EA teams and suppliers in their use of carbon tools and ensures they become a core asset‑management system operating with other AMBST‑supported tools for the infrastructure programme and asset management.

Key Responsibilities

* Supporting EA and external users of operational carbon tools
* Managing and delivering a range of services to users of carbon tools
* Agreeing and maintaining services with a range of different user groups
* Being a senior product user for digital improvement projects of our carbon tools and data
* Planning and managing user activities in the implementation of carbon‑tool changes and improvements
* Managing the resources and funding for carbon‑tool support and maintenance
* Working with operational carbon communities and national leads as required

In addition, you will work with IT suppliers and colleagues across the EA, including FCRM, operations teams throughout England, and Defra’s Digital, Data and Technology Services (DDTS). You will also engage with local authorities, water companies, internal drainage boards, and the civil‑engineering supply chain.

Team

We are the Asset Management Business Systems Team (AMBST), part of the Digital, Data and Evidence team. We manage several Asset Management IT systems – AIMS PD PoL, PAFs, RMA Portal, FastDraft, Co‑Space, Asite (BIM Document Management), and SBMT. We provide system administration, user support, and an advisory role on IT projects, working with suppliers, DDTS, EA business leads and users to ensure improvements are realised that enable asset management to deliver efficient outcomes.

Experience / Skills Required

* Experience in asset management and/or infrastructure business processes
* Experience in digital tool development or user implementation services
* Experience in development of training and documentation
* Knowledge and skills in stakeholder engagement and effective communication
* Ability to identify, analyse, evaluate, and implement improved ways of working
* Ability to take decisions and solve complex business problems
* A strong focus on efficiency, innovation, and quality
* Strong focus on customers and partners and ability to build and sustain relationships
* Ability to manage yourself and work on your own initiative

"If a large volume of applications is received, then the assessment of the first of the four competencies will be used to progress applications."

Contact & Additional Information

The role is predominantly office‑based, but occasional travel will be required. Any location for your office base is acceptable. Everyone who joins is required to undertake training and participate in incident response when the need arises. Further information regarding incident response, this role and the employee benefits can be found in the candidate pack.

Everyone starting in AMBST is welcomed into the team and given all the training and support needed to succeed. There are also fully funded opportunities to develop further academic or professional qualifications.

Interviews will be scheduled from the week commencing 1st December 2025.
