About The Role

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Quality Engineer to join our Ground Engineering team working in Leiston, Suffolk as part of the Sizewell C project. The role supports Balfour Beatty in delivering the project in accordance with customer and stakeholder requirements and commitments, including verification activities to demonstrate compliance against Balfour Beatty requirements, external accreditations and industry good practice.

The responsibilities include co‑ordination, submission, compliance and management of all assurance activities and the resolution of assurance related issues, implementation of procedures, establishment of test and inspection plans, and supporting delivery teams.


What you'll be doing

* Support and coordinate project teams in developing the quality plans/inspection & test plans to ensure requirements are met and review those from the supply chain.
* Coach and assist delivery teams in achieving the required deliverables, manage issues as required and provide quality advice to supply chain where appropriate.
* Implement and use digital systems to monitor the performance of quality planning and delivery against targets.
* Apply quality assurance principles and technical integrity to ensure customer requirements are understood and quality control mechanisms are in place.
* Support the development of project or business stream quality strategies and the delivery of measurement frameworks, programmes and actions.
* Conduct investigations and report on quality related issues as required.
* Conduct supply chain audits at supplier premises and prepare audit reports, following up on observations and non‑conformities to ensure timely closure.
* Meet with stakeholders in the supply chain to discuss quality matters and distribute minutes of meetings.
* Coordinate improvements to procedures and processes, ensuring communication to teams and timely quality reporting.
* Coordinate digitisation of forms with client Digital and project delivery teams.
* Assist the Quality Manager and conduct training sessions for project and supply chain teams.
* Identify required revisions to procedures and templates for the Quality Manager.
* Ensure quality related data is stored correctly in the project system for data analysis.
* Support Line Managers and guide Quality Engineers based at Orwell Office on daily activities.


Who we're looking for


The Following Qualities/experiences Are Essential

* An understanding and commitment to Quality Management.
* Prior quality experience and/or relevant operational or technical experience.
* Level 4+ qualification in Quality, Construction or Manufacturing (relevant industry).
* Enquiring and questioning approach to audit work with experience in managing accreditation audits.
* Experience in driving business improvement and leading change.
* Ability to gather, analyse and evaluate facts to work to plans, programmes and budgets.
* Attention to detail and ability to see tasks through to completion.
* Relationship building and influencing skills.
* Report writing and oral communication skills.
* Challenging existing methods while working within a multi‑discipline team.
* Proficiency with modern office computer systems such as Office 365.
* A CQI Practitioner and working towards Chartered status with major project experience.


The Following Qualities/experience Are Desirable

* ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor training.
* Awareness of sector‑specific certifications and their requirements.
* Experience with digital progressive assurance systems and electronic forms.
* Operational experience in construction or asset management.
