Mechanical Engineer – Submarines
Secondment 1-2 years with Rolls‑Royce – the Submarines Production Alliance. The team is based in Derby, with travel required one week per month.
About the Role
The successful candidate will be embedded into the Platform Team and will report directly to the Deputy Chief Engineer. The role focuses on safety, design and integration of submarine propulsion systems.
What You Will Be Doing
* Exercise safety delegated responsibility in control & design of Sec Prop PBS
* MESM with recent experience of SSN propulsion operations & scenarios (A‑Class/S9G)
* Responsible for generation of SSNA CONOPs + "draft SOPs"
* Oversight of DRNT SMITE trials programme and incorporation of PWR3 plant integration/LFE into SSNA design.
* Lead interface with SMITE 2 generation team regarding SSNa specific steam trials, TGs and DRNT LFE
Who We’re Looking For
* Ideally an Incorporated Engineer or equivalent; chartered is desirable.
* Experience in a relevant domain is preferred but not essential.
* Good communication, presentation skills and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment.
