Role: Senior Policy Planner REF 1627711 Contract Length: 12 months Location: Brentwood/Hybrid IR35: Inside Pay Rate to Intermediary: £47.45 per hour Spinwell is recruiting for a Senior Policy Planner for an excellent opportunity within the public sector. RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE SENIOR POLICY PLANNER Norwich to Tilbury Development Consent Order (DCO) Lead the Council’s involvement in the DCO Examination in Public. Represent the Council at hearing sessions. Prepare formal written submissions for appointed inspectors. Provide regular updates to senior officers and elected members. Lower Thames Crossing Development Consent Order (DCO) Coordinate the Council’s response to the consented scheme. Review and provide feedback on key documents, including those linked to the S106 agreement. Report progress and issues to senior officers and members. Gypsy and Traveller Policy Matters Oversee policy development and ensure alignment with legal and planning frameworks. Provide input into ongoing planning applications involving Gypsy and Traveller communities. Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) and Section 106 (S106) Matters Support the coordination of governance arrangements for the allocation and spending of developer contributions. Assist in the development and adoption of an Infrastructure Investment Plan. SKILLS/EXPERIENCE OF THE SENIOR POLICY PLANNER Strong understanding of planning policy and infrastructure planning, particularly in relation to DCO processes. Experience in representing local authorities at public examinations or hearings. Knowledge of Gypsy and Traveller planning policy and associated legal frameworks. Familiarity with CIL and S106 processes, including governance and investment planning.
