We have an incredible opportunity to join us as a Senior Investment Analyst to join the Real Assets team within the Private Markets team in the Retirement Solutions & Asset Management (RS&AM) function.

The Team
The successful candidate will help us to create the best investment outcomes for our c.£283bn assets under administration. Asset Management is core to the delivery of the Phoenix’s growth ambitions.
The role sits within the Private Markets team, which is responsible for originating, structuring and managing Private Asset transactions, for our buy-and-hold fixed income mandate.
The Role
The Senior Investment Analyst is to work as part of the Real Assets team within Private Markets. This role has three areas of focus:
Assisting in analysing and executing Real Assets investment opportunities (including Infrastructure, Project Finance, Asset Backed loan, Commercial Real Estate, Long Income – Income strips, ground leases-, and other real assets debt investments )
Supporting the wider Private Markets team and the Asset Management business unit in structuring, executing and managing complex transactions
Developing the Private Markets proposition around Real Assets to service the Shareholder requirements and support the Policyholder assets as Subject Matter Expert (SME).
The Senior Investment Analyst will support Phoenix’s continued investment in Infrastructure, Asset Backed, Real Estate Debt and Long Income opportunities. Investing in Project Infrastructure, Asset Backed, Real Estate Debt and Long Income assets forms a key part of Phoenix Asset Management’s strategy; the successful candidate will help source, assess, execute and monitor new investment opportunities for Phoenix’s balance sheet. As part of the broader Private Markets team (including Private Credit, Structured Credit & Alternatives), the role sits within our Capital Markets division at the heart of generating shareholder value.
Key Responsibilities
New Investment Opportunities
1. Assist in sourcing new high quality Real Assets Investment opportunities through a variety of channels including banks, brokers, advisors, borrowers and
2. external asset manager partners;
3. Generate additional yield on the group’s investment assets by using relative value analysis to identify investment opportunities that deliver material illiquidity premium;
Investment Analysis
4. Support the investment analysis for Real Assets; including quantitative analysis of investment recommendations, risk exposures and impacts of proposed investment;
5. Undertake credit analysis on investment opportunities across a range of property asset classes and jurisdictions;
6. Build, analyse and sensitise cash flow models
7. Negotiate terms with new and existing borrowers to maximise economic value, mitigate credit risks and enhance legal protections;
8. Analyse market data and provide commentary on current trends/themes to support investment strategy and decision making
Strategic Projects
9. Contribute to and lead strategic projects around real estate and infrastructure to further expand the opportunity set of investments that Phoenix can participate in;
10. Support ongoing management and oversight for the Real Assets portfolio to fully comprehend and mitigate emerging risks, including by way of covenant waivers and/or restructuring;
Stakeholder Management
11. Manage both internal and external stakeholders collegiately and efficiently to support the approval of new transactions;
What we're looking for
Experience and Knowledge (Essential)
12. Demonstrated experience in investing in buy or sell side, assessing, structuring and monitor Real Assets investments (Infrastructure/Project Finance, Asset Backed, Real estate debt
13. Knowledge across a range of sectors, coupled with Real Asset industry knowledge, including knowledge of market participants
14. Knowledge and experience of Solvency II regulation and Prudent Person Principle
15. Experience of structuring assets within a complex regulatory framework
16. Advanced investment, origination and surveillance experience, including commercial, contractual and legal negotiation skills
Desirable
17. Track record of high quality delivery, including management of multiple projects
18. Experience of situations or roles where self-prioritisation and ability to manage multiple stakeholders is required
19. Experience of managing loan workouts & credit risk assessment for real assets credit is desirable
20. Market network with key participants

Qualifications
29. Undergraduate degree in relevant field. MSc would be advantageous but not essential.
30. Financial professional qualifications are beneficial but not required (. CFA, CQF)
