We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Early Career Teacher (ECT) to join a supportive primary school in Burnley, starting September 2026. This is a full-time, temporary position offering long-term placement for the academic year. The school is well-regarded for its inclusive ethos, strong team culture and commitment to supporting early career teachers as they develop their classroom practice.
Key responsibilities
* Plan and deliver engaging lessons across the primary curriculum
* Support pupils academic, social and emotional development
* Assess and track progress in line with school and national expectations
* Work collaboratively with teaching staff, mentors and school leadership
* Create a positive, safe and inspiring classroom environment
Pre-requisites
* Relevant teaching qualification leading to QTS (ECT status)
* Proven experience from teaching practice placements in primary settings
* Strong knowledge of the primary curriculum and effective teaching strategies
* Two education or school-based references
* A valid DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
