The Role
We’re looking for a compassionate and resilient ASC Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming school in Newcastle, supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).
This is a role where patience and positivity really make a difference. You’ll be helping children with autism build confidence, thrive in the classroom, and develop important life skills.
As an ASC TA, you will:
1. Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with ASC across different key stages.
2. Use visual aids, structured routines, and sensory strategies to create a safe, engaging learning environment.
3. Support pupils with social communication, emotional regulation, and independence.
4. Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and therapists to adapt learning resources and deliver tailored interventions.
5. Promote positive behaviour and wellbeing through calm, consistent support and encouragement.
The Ideal Candidate
We’re looking for someone who has:
6. Experience supporting children or young people with ASC (in schools or other settings).
7. A calm, empathetic, and consistent approach to behaviour and learning.
8. Strong communication and teamwork skills.
9. Flexibility to support across different settings (drivers are highly desirable for some roles).
10. A Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification or Team Teach training (advantageous but not essential).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
