About the role
Lead Dorset’s asset intelligence. Transform how a modern council uses data to shape its estate.
Dorset Council is reshaping how it manages one of the South West’s largest and most diverse property portfolios. Through the Strategic Asset Management Plan (SAMP) 2024–2030, we’re creating a smarter, more agile, insight-driven approach to using land and buildings to support better services, stronger communities and long-term sustainability.
As our Lead Asset Strategy Analyst, you’ll sit at the centre of this transformation — leading our asset information and land surveying team, modernising systems, driving digital improvements, and ensuring the council has the intelligence it needs to make confident, strategic decisions.

Why this role?
You’ll bring together data, systems, processes and people to create a single, reliable, strategic picture of the council’s estate. Your work will influence how Dorset invests, divests, manages risk, plans for the future and delivers the SAMP’s ambitions.
You will lead and deliver:
* A modern, insight-driven asset intelligence function, providing a single, accurate, strategic source of truth.
* Streamlined, automated and efficient processes that improve accuracy and support faster, smarter decision-making.
* An integrated CAFM / property management system, aligned with GIS, LLPG and corporate platforms to strengthen reporting, compliance and planning.
* High-quality business intelligence and performance reporting, giving senior leaders clear, actionable insight that shapes Dorset’s estate.
* A land surveying team who support the Council’s priorities by enabling land redevelopment and repurposing.
You will work closely with colleagues across Assets & Property, and play a pivotal part in moving towards a more insight-driven operating model. It’s a role that requires strong leadership, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work at pace.
Why Dorset?
Dorset is a county with ambition, modernising rapidly, strengthening data and governance, and placing strategic asset management at the heart of service transformation. You’ll join a forward-thinking team that values innovation, collaboration and using intelligence to drive meaningful change.
About you
You bring proven leadership in property data, business intelligence or asset information systems. You’re analytical, forward-thinking, confident working with senior leaders, and skilled at simplifying complexity into streamlined, effective processes.
