1 day ago – be among the first 25 applicants

Do you want to make a lasting positive change to the environment? As a Technical Author in the UK BAT team you can.

Large Volume Inorganic Chemicals (LVIC) installations are required to use “Best Available Techniques” (BAT) to reduce emissions to air, water and land. We have established a process for the definition of BAT within the UK. The regime will use the BAT concept principles of a transparent, collaborative, data‑ and evidence‑led process that safeguards and builds on the current high levels of environmental protection. Central to this process is the UK BAT Author.

Responsibilities

* Draft BAT Conclusions and maintain them to reflect evolving science and policy
* Liaise with Technical Working Groups to gather evidence and secure consensus
* Prepare and present a final document suitable for publication as a new UK‑wide environmental standard for industry
* Manage project sprints, milestones and deliverables to ensure timely completion
* Support an inclusive incident‑management objective within your development plan and receive related training
* Use smart tools to stay connected; occasional travel and overnight stays may be required

Qualifications & Experience

* At least 5 years of working experience in environmental regulation within the LVIC industry
* Solid knowledge of the UK and EU industrial environmental legislation, including the IED and the Environmental Permitting Regulations
* Specialist knowledge of the large volume inorganic chemicals industry
* Strong background in process engineering and environmental issues
* Proficiency in data analysis and the development of technical arguments from complex industrial data
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills – ability to produce clear, concise technical documents and to convey complex information persuasively to a range of stakeholders
* Strong planning, prioritising and organisational skills with a proven drive to deliver on time
* Adaptability, resilience and the ability to build consensus across diverse teams
* Experience with UK BAT or similar best‑practice framework is an asset
* Relevant project‑management training or certification is an asset
