£85,000 – £110,000 + bonus
About Us
We're recruiting an Accountancy Director to join a rapidly expanding, multi-office accountancy and business advisory firm as it continues to grow its presence in Birmingham. This is a senior, strategic hire within a well-established Business Advisory & Accountancy service line, offering the opportunity to shape the direction of the team, drive new client relationships, and lead the delivery of proactive, relationship-led advisory services to a broad corporate and owner-managed client base.
Working closely with the Head of Service Line and Senior Management Team, you'll play a pivotal role in developing the local office, strengthening client experience, and accelerating service line growth through commercial leadership and business development.
Responsibilities
* Lead and develop trusted-advisor relationships with owner-managed businesses and corporate clients
* Oversee delivery of high-quality accounts, compliance, and advisory work, ensuring best practice and excellent client experience
* Identify and convert new business opportunities by leveraging your professional network and local market presence
* Drive growth of the Birmingham office, including recruitment, succession planning, coaching, and performance management
* Partner with senior stakeholders to develop and deliver service line strategy and improve operational efficiency
* Monitor developments in the accounting marketplace, including cloud accounting, outsourcing and automation trends
* Support cross-service collaboration with wider teams to provide joined-up advisory solutions
* Ensure robust governance, commercial control, risk management, and consistent standards across engagements
* Represent the firm externally at networking events, referral partner meetings, and local business forums
Requirements
* ACA / ACCA qualified (or equivalent), with strong experience in practice within Business Services / Accounts / Advisory
* Proven track record in business development, client retention, and growing a portfolio (ideally mid-market/OMBs)
* Strong commercial mindset with the ability to spot opportunities and deliver value-led advisory outcomes
* Up-to-date knowledge of cloud-based accounting ecosystems and outsourcing/service optimisation opportunities
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, able to influence at senior levels
* Demonstrable people leadership experience: building teams, mentoring, developing talent, and managing performance
* Confident operating in a fast-growth environment, comfortable shaping strategy and leading change
* Strong professional standards, with a focus on quality, risk awareness, and client service excellence
