Main Duties
The aim is to maximise the deployability of the population at risk, ensuring dental health and operational fitness of service personnel within Defence Primary Healthcare. This is achieved while complying with General Dental Council standards, Defence policies (e.g., Joint Service Publications 950), Defence Primary Healthcare Standard Operating Procedures and single service regulations.
Qualifications and Experience
* Full registration with the General Dental Council (GDC) without conditions. Provide your registration number and details of any current or pending restrictions.
* Foundation Dentist Training completed, or qualified before foundation training became compulsory.
* Evidence of adequate current clinical experience to practice independently in the UK or abroad.
* Minimum of 2 clinical sessions per week of operative primary dental care over the last 15 months.
* Evidence of currency with GDC Continuous Professional Development requirements.
* Valid UK driving licence to enable travel to regional dental centres if required.
* Confidence in using information technology and participation in MOD Dentist performance management and Clinical Quality Assurance & Appraisal processes.
* Availability to cover on‑call out‑of‑hours duties as part of a regional team if required.
Person Specification
* Strengths in leadership, strategic vision, effective decision‑making, quality service management, pace delivery, communication and influencing.
* Demonstrated ability to maintain patient safety and contribute to staff skill development.
* Experience with military dentistry provision and primary dental care.
* Commitment to continuous learning and evidence of clinical currency.
* Honesty and integrity demonstrated through disclosure and barring service checks.
* No history of gross misconduct related to bullying, harassment, discrimination or victimisation in the last five years.

Compensation
Pay range: £60,188 to £99,410 a year (pro‑rated for part‑time, with pay award pending).
Employment Conditions
* Part‑time: 24 hours per week, with flexible working considered.
* Probation period: 6 months for new Civil Service entrants.
* No relocation expenses or reimbursements for interview travel.
* Part‑time salary pro‑rated to hours worked.
