Overview
This role is for a specialist Trauma informed midwife covering a 12 month maternity cover.
The Maternal Mental Health Services (Health Education England - HEE) initiative is delivered in collaboration with the Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Integrated Care System (ICS), Local Maternity and Neonatal System (LMNS) and Perinatal Mental Health Clinical Networks. The 'Maternal Mental Health Services' (MMHS) has been developed to meet the objectives outlined in the NHS Long Term Plan, NHS Mental Health Implementation Plan, National Maternity Transformation Programme and the modalities for trauma therapy recommended by NICE guidelines. The Long Term Plan included a joint PMH and maternity transformation objective: 'MMHS' will be available across the country, combining maternity, reproductive health and psychological therapy for women experiencing mental health difficulties directly arising from, or related to, the maternity experience. Maternal Mental Health Services should identify and assess moderate-severe/complex mental health difficulties associated with loss and trauma occurring in the maternity/perinatal/neonatal context (including parent-infant relationship), and provide consultation/advice, signposting and/or offering targeted interventions., As the Specialist Midwife, working internally and externally to support the implementation and delivery with associated projects, initiatives and services to time and in a cost-effective.
Responsibilities
* To operate in a highly political and sensitive environment.
* To provide advice and prepare strategic reports and briefings for directors and stakeholders.
* Attend and provide active updates for internal and external meetings, as well as at LMNS strategic meetings.
* Support the development of a culture where evidence-based trauma-informed care in pregnancy is recognised as a key goal for all staff working in maternity services.
* Be seen as a leading advocate for trauma-informed maternity care across Nottinghamshire.
* Provide expertise and guidance on trauma-informed maternity care.
* Provide expert advice and resources to staff in all practice settings where required.
* Support staff in developing their competence to enable them to support safety and choice.
* Develop strategies to ensure a woman with complex needs benefit fully from a multidisciplinary approach to their care.
* Support the development and maintenance of evidence-based guidelines for trauma-informed maternity care.
* To provide expertise to NHCT, NUH, SFH and LMNS partners (including service users) in developing integrated pathways of care.
* To be a key point of contact for identified stakeholders in relation to trauma-informed maternity care.
