he Role
We are seeking a SEN Teaching Assistant with Catering Responsibilities to join our supportive and dedicated team. This is a unique and rewarding role combining classroom support, 1:1 mentoring, and catering-based provision that forms an important part of our pupils’ educational and pastoral experience.
You will support pupils’ learning, wellbeing and engagement both in the classroom and through bespoke catering-based activities delivered on a 1:1 or small group basis.
Key Responsibilities
1. Provide in-class support under the direction of the class teacher
2. Support pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, including acting as a 1:1 mentor
3. Assist with learning activities, including practical and vocational-style sessions linked to catering
4. Prepare, set up and deliver bespoke catering provision for individual pupils and small groups
5. Maintain a clean, safe and well-organised catering area in line with food hygiene and health & safety standards
6. Support pupils to develop independence, engagement and positive behaviour during catering-based activities
7. Work collaboratively with teaching, pastoral and support staff
8. Promote safeguarding, wellbeing and positive behaviour in line with school policies
About You
We are looking for someone who:
9. Has experience supporting children or young people with SEN and/or behavioural needs
10. Is caring, resilient and adaptable, with a calm and positive approach
11. Communicates with empathy and builds strong, respectful relationships with pupils
12. Is proactive and committed to making a meaningful difference
13. Aligns with our values of Compassion, Aspiration, Inspiration, Nurture and Trust
14. Holds an Enhanced DBS (or is willing to obtain one)
15. Has Mental Health First Aid training (or a willingness to undertake it)
16. Is flexible and willing to support pupils during break and lunchtime periods
