Exciting Opportunity for a Technical Author in the Renewable Energy Sector!
On behalf of our client a global leader in offshore wind energy – we are looking for an experienced Technical Author to support the expansion of the Safe Systems of Work (SSOW) programme across their UK West offshore operations.
This is a 12-month contract role, ideal for someone with a strong background in technical writing within industrial, engineering, or safety-critical environments.
About the Role:
You’ll be instrumental in migrating OME documentation to Ørsted’s standards – including SOPs, SWDs, service manuals, lift plans, and work instructions – ensuring consistency, safety compliance, and operational usability.
Your work will directly impact operational safety and efficiency across our clients offshore wind assets.
Key Responsibilities:

Develop, edit, and manage high-quality SSOW documentation.
*
Collaborate with engineers, HSE advisors, and offshore teams to ensure accurate, usable documentation.
*
Align all materials and regulatory safety standards (OESR, ISO, UK HSE).
*
Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, 55001 frameworks.
*
Support audits and drive continuous improvement in documentation standards.
*
Utilise digital content/document control systems.
What We’re Looking For:
Essential:
*
Proven experience as a Technical Author in industrial or offshore environments.
*
Strong knowledge of Safe Systems of Work and HSE principles.
*
Excellent technical writing and document management skills.
*
Familiarity with offshore wind, oil & gas, or utility industries.
*
Proficiency in digital document platforms and structured authoring.
Desirable:
*
Background in STEM; safety qualifications (IOSH, NEBOSH) a plus.
*
Experience with HV systems, WTSR, or Vestas/Siemens documentation.
*
Lean documentation or standardisation experience is advantageous.
