Job summary

We are currently seeking a registered nurse to join our friendly neurosurgical research team. You will have the opportunity to work with world class medics in current cutting edge surgery, taking a supporting role in running a portfolio of research studies. You will be expected to approach, screen and recruit patients for dynamic trials/studies. You will coordinate and facilitate patients on their journey through trials, including liaising and networking with consultants and hospital research facilities across the UK with regard to the effects of the trials and trial medications.

Your time will be divided between office based work and patient facing work along with specialist areas involved in facilitating clinical trials.

You will work autonomously, as well as part of a team with opportunities for personal development.


Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for the provision of high quality, patient focused clinical research for the Dept of Neurosurgery.

The post holder will be responsible for identifying eligible clinical research participants, provision of information and support to patients/participants, study recruitment and consent, co-ordination of study treatment/ interventions, assessing, developing and implementing specialist nursing care and data collection according to study protocols in accordance with ICH Good Clinical Practice, EU Clinical Trials legislation and the NHS research governance framework.

Responsible for providing specialist advice and support to and liaising with other staff

There are a number of trials within the department and the workload will be divided between the research nurses supported by the research fellows and manager.
