Kick‑start your tech career with Balfour Beatty

Are you a recent graduate with a passion for technology, problem‑solving and learning new skills? Want to work on real‑world digital solutions that make a genuine difference to how a major organisation operates?

At Balfour Beatty, we're looking for a Power Apps Developer to join our IT & Digital team. This is a fantastic opportunity to build your career in application development using the Microsoft Power Platform, with full training, mentoring and support provided.

We care just as much about attitude and potential as technical knowledge. If you're curious, collaborative and eager to learn, we'd love to hear from you.

What you'll be doing

As a Power Apps Developer, you'll work alongside experienced developers and project teams to design, build and support applications used across the business.

Your role will include:

Developing applications

* Designing and building apps using Microsoft Power Apps (Canvas and Model‑Driven)
* Learning how to enhance applications with custom code where required

Automation & integration

* Using Power Automate to streamline and automate business processes
* Connecting applications to databases, APIs and other systems to ensure smooth data flow

Working as part of a team

* Collaborating with developers, project managers and business analysts
* Taking part in Agile / SCRUM ceremonies such as sprint planning and stand‑ups
* Contributing ideas and learning best practice from experienced colleagues

Support & continuous improvement

* Helping to maintain and improve existing applications
* Troubleshooting issues and supporting users as systems evolve
* Creating clear documentation so solutions are easy to understand and support

Doing things the right way

* Learning and applying best practice around security, data protection and quality
* Making sure solutions meet organisational and industry standards

Who we're looking for

You'll ideally have:

* A degree in Computer Science, IT, Software Engineering or a related subject
* An interest in low‑code platforms such as Microsoft Power Apps / Power Automate
* Some experience or understanding of programming (e.g. Java, .NET, Python or similar)
* Basic knowledge of databases and SQL
* A logical, problem‑solving mindset and strong attention to detail
* Good communication skills and confidence working with non‑technical colleagues
* A willingness to learn, ask questions and take on new challenges

Don't worry if you don't meet every requirement – we're more interested in your potential and enthusiasm.
