Background
This is a strategic role responsible for the effective planning, utilisation, and development of space across the University estate. This post will shape and deliver space strategies aligned with the University's emerging Estates Strategy and overall institutional priorities.
Acting as a key liaison between Estates Environment and Facilities, Schools, students, and Professional Services, the role ensures optimal space usage and stakeholder engagement in a rapidly evolving educational environment.
Responsibilities
Support the development of the University's Space Strategy, ensuring alignment with institutional goals and long-term capital planning.
Translate academic and operational requirements into spatial strategies, working closely with academic leads, timetabling, and planning teams across the institution.
Oversee and manage the continuous improvement of space management systems and processes, ensuring real-time, accurate space usage data.
Act as the business partner for space-related matters across the institution, working with Deans, Chief Operating Officers, Directors of Professional Services, and Students' Union representatives
Person Specification
To have a degree or equivalent qualification in a property-related discipline, ideally with a specialism in space management.
The postholder will possess in-depth knowledge of lease planning, hybrid working models, and space management systems, alongside hands-on experience with Computer Aided Facilities Management (CAFM) software such as Planon, or similar platforms, particularly in support of smart campus initiatives. A strong understanding of the built environment, property strategy, estates planning, and space optimisation is essential, as is the ability to drive effective space utilisation across diverse portfolios
