Purpose
Our client has an immediate vacancy in their Leicester office for a Structural Engineer to complement our experienced Structural Engineering design team.
The team works for clients throughout the East Midlands and United Kingdom, covering various sectors including education, health, industrial, commercial and housing. Designs range from multi-storey structures to small housing schemes and range in construction value from £250,000 to £10M. They also undertake structural inspections of commercial and residential properties.
Responsibilities
The role will involve the design of structures using the common construction materials of steel, timber, masonry and reinforced concrete and a basic knowledge of geotechnical engineering will also be required.
The team use industry standard software including TEDDS, TEKLA, and CSC Portal Frame Designer. Hand calculations are also undertaken.
Client care is of paramount importance and the successful candidate will be an able communicator, both in written English and verbally, in person and on the telephone.
Experience
The role would suit a structural or civil engineering graduate with a minimum of three years’ experience working towards Incorporated/Associate or Chartered Engineer status.
The successful candidate will receive in house training to develop their skills and be assisted in gaining membership of relevant institutions. The client has a positive track record in mentoring staff to achieve membership of either I.C.E or IStructE.

The successful candidate will need to possess strong analytical skills be qualified to Bachelor or Master degree level. Personal attributes are also important and the successful candidate will need to possess a strong team work ethic but also be self motivated to work individually.
In addition the successful candidate will be, computer literate, being fully competent in the use of Word and Excel. Specific experience in the use of AutoCAD for technical drawing will also be beneficial
