Main duties of the job

An exciting opportunity is available to recruit into a role as a Band 6 Resuscitation Officer, to join the resuscitation training department in Learning Education & Development. This is a full time post, working 37.5 hours, on a Monday to Friday working pattern.The purpose of this role is to:

* provide comprehensive & high quality resuscitation training to the multi-disciplinary team,
* assist in various audits within the department, participate in cardiac arrest follow up and data collection for the National Cardiac Arrest Audit (NCAA),
* to attend 2222 cardiac arrest calls (when able) & emergency response to the grounds and external buildings,
* support in the provision of quality assurance of resuscitation practice and equipment across the Organisation.

Job responsibilities

The Resuscitation Department is seeking an experienced registered practitioner, with clinical expertise working in a high acuity or acute setting. We seek an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual with a passion for education & Resuscitation Practice, to support in the delivery of high quality education, and quality assurance of resuscitation practice at PHU. An individual with experience in delivering Resuscitation Council UK courses, particularly Immediate Life Support is highly desirable. Opportunity to undertake an Advanced Life Support Course will be available.

The post holder will support with audit, including the National Cardiac Arrest Audit data collection. The successful applicant will be expected to also attend 2222 cardiac arrest calls when able, and be an active member of the the Emergency Response Team, providing 2222 response to the grounds and external buildings. The successful candidate must be highly motivated, organised, and ready for the challenge.


Person Specification


Qualifications

* Current RN +/- RN, registration with NMC and any other relevant post registration qualifications
* BSc Degree in relevant field
* Experience in delivery of education (formal or informal)
* Delivery of resuscitation specific education including Basic Life Support and Immediate Life Support instructor status.
* Evidence of experience in undertaking a variety of clinical skills procedures including chest compressions, the use of a bag-valve mask (two-person technique), IV drug administration and other relevant skill practices.
* Evidence of recent CPD
* Managing resources and contributing to departmental budget
* Evidence of developing policy, guidelines and managing resources
* An awareness of research and evidence-based practice relevant to clinical area
* Advanced Life Support Provider


Experience

* Experience >2 years working at Band 5 level, in a high acuity or acute setting
* Clinically competent at Band 5.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills
* Teaching and mentoring skills
* Ability to prioritise workload, instruct and direct others
* Organisational skills and able to work as part of a team
* Able to support development of others
* Articulate and knowledgeable of current resuscitation guidelines
* Health promotion
* Ability to adapt to change within working situation
