Overview
We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic and passionate Speech and Language Therapist to join our expanding Bexley Community Adult Speech and Language Therapy Team. This role involves providing specialist assessment, rehabilitation and advice for adults with acquired communication and swallowing disorders in a community setting.
Responsibilities
* Conduct specialist assessment, rehabilitation and advice for individuals with swallowing and communication difficulties.
* Arrange and deliver assessments in homes, care homes, day centres, outpatient clinics or workplaces.
* Work independently to assess and treat people with dysphagia.
* Utilise videofluoroscopy and FEES as needed; full training and support will be provided.
* Collaborate with dietitians, ENT, psychology, palliative care and other health and social care practitioners to manage long‑term conditions, voice disorders and dysfluency.
* Supervise therapy assistants and Speech & Language Therapy students.
* Possibility to set up and run therapy groups for individuals with communication impairments and their significant others.
* Participate in service innovation and quality improvement projects.
Working Hours & Location
08:00 – 17:00 Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays. Potential weekend work may arise in the future.
Service is delivered throughout the London Borough of Bexley, at the client’s place of residence, care homes, day centres, outpatient clinics, or workplace.
Qualifications & Experience
* Qualified Speech and Language Therapist with experience in adult dysphagia management.
* Experience working independently in assessing and treating acquired communication and swallowing disorders.
* Experience with videofluoroscopy and/or FEES is an advantage.
* Ability to work autonomously as a lone practitioner.
* Strong communication and collaboration skills with multidisciplinary teams.
