Overview
The Caterpillar Technology team in the UK, has some of the most exciting engineering roles within the Caterpillar global organisation, working on the integration of electronic control systems within multiple Caterpillar products. Integration of the latest Electronics and Electrical technology helps differentiate Caterpillar products from its competitors, by enabling exceptional performance and value to the customer. Our integrated machine systems control all aspects of construction machine operation (engine/transmission or full electric powertrain, hydraulic systems), provide the human-machine interface (operator controls and information displays), and constantly monitor and communicate position, operation, diagnostic and prognostic information to enable machine automation, improved productivity and enhanced serviceability.
What You Will Do
We have a number of opportunities available, where you will be part of a global team who will design, develop, and enhance electro-mechanical systems and mechatronic devices to optimize products and systems used on Caterpillar machine products.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, develop, and enhance electro-mechanical systems and mechatronic devices.
* Collaborate with a global team to optimize products and systems used on Caterpillar machine products.
* Apply analytical thinking to determine the root cause of problems and create alternative solutions.
* Communicate complex technical concepts effectively using summarization and simplification techniques.
* Problem solve, anticipate, and resolve organizational, operational or process problems.
* Develop embedded systems for controlling machine operations.
* Perform requirement analysis to elicit, analyse and record required business functionality and non-functionality requirements.
* Technical troubleshooting of hardware, software, application or operational issues.
Essential Qualifications
* Knowledge of embedded systems and their applications.
* Experience in requirement analysis methods and tools.
* Proficiency in technical troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques.
* Strong analytical, problem solving and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
* Off-highway machine control system development experience (or comparable experience within automotive, marine or military vehicle control systems).
* NI test bench experience (Labview/Veristand).
* J1939 CAN/Ethernet System experience.
* Vector CANape/CANalyzer or similar experience.
