About the opportunity
We are seeking a Cost & Contract Engineer to join the Turnaround Team at Fife Ethylene Plant, with preparations underway for the August 2026 turnaround. This role offers the chance to contribute significantly to our competitiveness goals, focusing on overseeing turnaround costs from planning through execution. Additionally, the role involves supporting procurement in contract setup and ensuring contractual compliance and cost control during execution.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
1. Report to the TA Manager, providing accurate cost estimates and maintaining consistency in planning and estimating approaches.
2. Collaborate with the Planning Team to develop cost planning and estimating documentation for internal and external assurance.
3. Monitor and manage turnaround budgets during the pre-TA phase, supporting change management processes.
4. Assist in quantification during cost planning and estimating activities.
5. Support pre-TA and delivery teams by collecting benchmarking data periodically.
6. Manage stakeholder relationships to produce reliable estimates, involving planning and procurement teams.
7. Present, negotiate, and justify pricing transparently with the TA Manager and Site Leadership.
8. Oversee third-party contractors in collaboration with commercial and procurement teams, ensuring contractual compliance.
9. Develop and implement policies and procedures for all contracts within the turnaround portfolio.
10. Foster effective working relationships among all parties involved.
11. Coordinate with the Turnaround Manager, site teams, and legal/commercial departments to resolve contract disputes effectively.
12. Work closely with the Asset Performance Team to ensure contractual compliance with KPIs and reporting obligations.
13. Identify and assess the impact of KPI and performance issues.
14. Lead SRM meetings with key turnaround contractors.
About you
Essential
* Proficiency in Excel and similar software.
* Strong communication and presentation skills.
* Background in commercial or operations roles.
Desirable
* Experience in estimating using estimating software and tools.
* Knowledge of AACE estimating principles and maturity levels.
* Flexibility to work mobile and adapt to changing needs.
* Chartered status with recognized industry bodies such as ICE, CICES, RICS, or CIOB.
* Experience managing contracts and professional interactions.
* Enthusiasm for learning, teaching, and adapting to business growth.
* Professional demeanor when dealing with colleagues, contractors, and third parties.
