Please note, this role can be based out of our Holborn or Ansty Store Support Centre & Home. Colleagues go into our Ansty SSC 1-2 days per week on average.
Sitting within a large Commercial Finance function, this role is a key member of the Clothing Finance team. The job holder will provide insight, analysis and commentary to stakeholders, aiming to drive decisions and actions that improve the bottom line and help deliver our Next Level Sainsbury’s strategy.
You will be responsible for supporting Clothing Online and the Clothing Division to deliver their strategic and financial plans. The support will range from day-to-day trading decisions to longer-term financial planning & analysis that supports the overall strategy of Clothing Online within Sainsbury’s.
You will be the key Finance Business Partner and finance expert, providing support and challenge whilst working cross-functionally with business Stakeholders to deliver well-constructed, end-to-end, financial perspectives on performance and business decisions. You'll be responsible for ensuring the financial performance and forecast for your business area is robust and well managed.
More about the role
* Business partner the Clothing Online team and support the wider Clothing Division, where needed
* Participate in trading meetings and discussions on a weekly basis, ensuring support and challenge over performance, and driving data-led decision making
* Interpret management reporting to provide insight, analysis, and commentary to stakeholders, including production and management of the Clothing Online P&L
* Identify risks and opportunities and prioritise effectively
* Ensure close alignment between multiple stakeholders by delivering clear and robust analysis in a timely manner in line with initiatives and plans across the business
* Attend regular department meetings ensuring Finance has a ‘voice’ and a ‘seat at the table’ where P&L impact meets department initiatives
* Proactively build an external perspective and use outputs to engage and influence business stakeholders
* Complete ad hoc / bespoke analysis and reporting for the business area as required to drive improvements
* Stepping up to cover the Head of Finance where needed
* Supporting the delivery of key Finance deliverables such as Latest View, Budget, Corporate Plan, Year-End etc.
* Success in this role will mean being able to deliver timely, robust and accurate analysis; translating data into valuable business insight, communicating all relevant financial and non-financial information when needed
More about you
* Professionally Qualified Accountant (ACCA/CIMA/ACA)
* Commercial Business Partnering experience of analysing and interpreting data to identify opportunities and actively participate in the operational decision-making process
* Data led and comfortable scoping and completing complex analysis – both proactively and as part of a broader commercial deliverable as required
* Previous experience of partnering a team that has both costs and sales implications desirable
* Strong commercial acumen with a focus on driving excellent financial and commercial performance
* Ability to prioritise workload whilst managing business and finance stakeholder expectations in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
* Effective communicator, influencer and challenger with senior stakeholders, including audiences of varying financial and commercial acumen
* Strong Excel and numerical skills, with an aptitude for turning data into analysis and insight
* A proven track record of financial control, and the ability to develop and maintain such an environment
* High levels of pace, energy and resilience
* A self-starter, and a strong team player that can work independently, spotting the areas to focus on and assisting in the decision-making process
* Must have a strong eye for detail and a passion for accuracy
* Comfortable working with ambiguity
