Tuition Opportunity – Play‑Based Tutor Needed (ASAP Start)
Location: GU11
Student: Aged 5 (Reuben)
Hours: 15 hours per week (Mon-Fri)
Duration: 10 weeks initially, with potential extension
Delivery: Face‑to‑face in the family home
Pay: £25-£30 per hour
About the Role
We are seeking a patient, creative, and experienced tutor to deliver play‑based learning for a young learner who is awaiting a Year R school placement. This role is ideal for someone with a background in Early Years, SEND, or therapeutic education approaches.
The successful tutor will focus on developing engagement, communication, early learning skills, and supporting sensory and emotional needs through structured play.
Learner Profile & Needs
Reuben has the following primary needs identified in his EHCP:
1. Autism
2. Significant social communication & interaction difficulties
3. Expressive and receptive language delays
4. Sensory processing difficulties
5. Sleep concerns currently under assessment
6. Ongoing assessments for hypermobility
The tutor will be expected to create a nurturing, consistent routine and adapt learning activities to meet his sensory, communication, and developmental needs.
Tutor Requirements

7. SEND / ASD
8. Early Years or play‑based approaches
9. Communication‑focused learning
10. Sensory‑informed practice

About the tutoring
11. Provide 1:1 tuition in core subjects or functional skills
12. Deliver engaging, personalised learning sessions
13. Support learners with varying needs and learning styles
14. Track progress and adapt teaching approaches where needed
15. Work in homes, schools, or community settings depending on placement
Requirements
16. 6 months working in UK schools
17. Strong subject knowledge in English, Maths and/or Science
18. Experience tutoring or teaching (school, intervention, tuition centre, or mentoring)
19. Ability to build positive relationships with students
20. Reliable, organised, and confident working independently
21. A current enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
