Personal Assistant Vacancy About me My name is Lucas, and I am currently starting year 8 at St Anselm's School. I have a condition called Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. This means that I am dependent on others for all aspects of my personal care. I need assistance with toileting, washing, and dressing. I use an electric wheelchair for mobility, however I am highly skilled at using my wheelchair and have been known for my speedy driving at times. I use a hoist for transfers, for example from my wheelchair to my bed or from my wheelchair to a shower chair. I have a stretching and maintenance program from my physiotherapy team, this helps to make sure I do not become too tight in my legs. My mum and dad help me with this when I am at home, and my teaching assistant will help me with this at school. My interests My interests include gaming. I have both a Nintendo switch and an Xbox, which I love playing. I also have a passion for Pokémon, and I am always ready for a battle, whether it's Minecraft or Roblox. I am looking for a personal assistant who is fun, friendly and enjoys gaming. Requirements for applicant We are looking for a personal assistant who has training in manual handling and is able to use a hoist. You will need to be confident in providing personal care and happy to assist with daily stretching exercises. Above all, you should have a fun, encouraging personality. This role would be ideal for a healthcare, nursing, occupational therapy or physiotherapy student who is looking to gain experience working with children. The post holder will be required to work 2 hours per week, every Friday during term time and to provide 5 hours of care per week during half term and summer holidays.
