Senior Training Designer/Analyst

This Senior Training Designer/Analyst will support the Royal Navy Training Design Service by delivering blended, active learning experiences that delight customers.


Responsibilities

* Conduct Training Needs Analysis in accordance with a recognised systems approach to training (DSAT (JSP 822) or ADDIE), identifying gaps between current and required performance for specific roles.
* Liaise with Equipment Design Authorities, OEMs, System Engineers, Subject Matter Experts and Training Managers to translate technical publications and system documentation into measurable training requirements.
* Accountable for all training courses assigned, ensuring the transformation of training content into active, engaging, inclusive, learner‑centric courses.
* Ensure processes for reviewing and changing training courses follow the end‑to‑end training design process, are DSAT compliant, and meet quality standards.
* Proactively identify and address challenges that may delay delivery, escalating as necessary.
* Develop DSAT documentation within TAFMIS.
* Produce and develop high‑quality training design, e‑learning and courseware materials.
* Design training courseware using a variety of media and technology.
* Contribute to overall instructional strategy, analysing and implementing changes to training programmes and identifying effective instructional methodologies.
* Seek feedback and impact stories to enhance training courses and celebrate successes.
* Incorporate changes from internal and external validation into all training design activity to keep training up‑to‑date and operationally relevant.
* Build strong stakeholder relationships with SMEs to contribute positively to training transformation.
* Identify opportunities to provide accreditation for new or amended training and assess implications for existing accreditations.
* Act as a technical lead to ensure processes follow the latest defence policy guidance.
* Ensure continuous professional development of self and coach assigned Training Designers.
* Comply with health and safety, security standards and system requirements to protect data.
* Perform other duties required to support the business.


Skills and Experience Requirements

* Previous experience in a Learning and Development role.
* Passion for learning and development and for developing others.
* Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships.
* A passionate ambassador for learning, collaboration and best practices within the team.
* Attention to detail, passion for quality, and the ability to plan and multitask.
* Enthusiastic to learn, collaborate, and demonstrate best practices within the business and customers.
* Flexibility to adapt to evolving priorities.


Desirable

* Experience with ADDIE model and Defence Systems Approach to Training (DSAT).
* Training and/or Instructional Design background.
* Proficiency with TAFMIS programme‑management tools and applications.
* Knowledge and practical experience of UK Ministry of Defence procedures and policies.
* Ability to contribute to team‑based creative solutions to technical problems.
