We have an exciting opportunity for a Paramedic to join our Primary Care team at HMP Altcourse a category B Prison located in Fazakerley, Liverpool.
HMP Altcourse is the busiest remand prison in the country and you will be at the heart of prison healthcare, managing triage and unplanned care for a diverse and complex patient population. You will assess and treat patients, responding to a wide range of clinical needs, including emergency response and acute illness, chronic disease management, injuries, trauma, use of force assessments, patients under the influence of drugs or alcohol, and mental health crises.
Hours:
* Monday – Sunday service – 37.5 hours per week
* 7am – 8pm
* Rota's are done 2 months in advance
* Occasional nights
This position is full time, you’ll receive an annual salary up to £43,609 – £49,175 per annum FTE, pro rota, depending on experience.

Main duties of the job
As a Paramedic, your responsibilities will vary. You will
* Provide outstanding evidence‑based care to patients, seeking out, listening to and acting on their feedback so that care is personalised and informed by what matters to them – focusing on emergency and unplanned care to patients with both primary and acute care needs.
* Deliver non‑judgemental care, building therapeutic relationships and promoting professional boundaries.
* Play an active part in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the patient’s care following our policies, procedures and always considering safeguarding.
* Work alongside a highly skilled and experienced multidisciplinary team, including doctors, Advanced Clinical Practitioners (ACPs), pharmacists, nurses, support workers, administrative staff, and access to in‑house diagnostics such as X‑ray, ultrasound and blood clinics. This collaborative approach ensures high‑quality, safe, and effective patient care within a well‑supported clinical environment.
