Red Technology designs, develops and supports sophisticated ecommerce solutions for mid to large UK and International companies. A critical part of our service is high uptime hosting, delivered from our London and Oxford (Eynsham) datacentres. This is a varied role with lots of interesting technology to gain hands on experience whilst being in a team that allows the flexibility to forge a career in one of a number of specialisations.
We are looking for someone with a passion for IT, with an understanding of PCs, servers and networking.
In this role, you'll be supporting external clients with Web Hosting issues and supporting staff internally with any IT issues they may be facing.

Red's ecommerce solutions are hosted on a Microsoft stack, however most of our hosting infrastructure is Linux based (with many being migrated to Kubernetes/container based operation), including load balancing, syslog, monitoring, DNS, Mail, FTP and many other systems necessary for successful ecommerce hosting operation. Our network and firewall infrastructure is predominantly Cisco based.
A Typical Day in the Job:
* Providing direct technical support to customers
* Supporting staff internally with PC or network issues
* Troubleshoot both hardware and software issues
* Monitor and troubleshoot server and network issues
* Maintenance of DNS, Mail, Web & Database Servers, backups, monitoring & logging systems and as skills progress switches, firewalls, load balancing, DDOS, and other hosting technologies
* Installing and configuring Linux and Windows Servers
* Installing PC desktops
Desired Qualities, Skills, and Knowledge:
* Genuine interest in IT
* A hobbyist who builds PCs and strong interest in Linux and Networking
* Strong Maths Science capability at GCSE and/or A Level.
* Excellent verbal & written communication, strong interpersonal skills, a team-oriented approach, willingness to learn and a sense of humour
* Tenacious and creative problem solving skills with good attention to detail
* A driving license and car is preferred as it allows travel to our London datacentre
Salary, Hours & Benefits:
· £24,000 - £30,000 per annum, depending on experience
· Monday-Friday (8-hour shift between 8am-6:30pm)
· 23 days annual leave plus bank holidays
