Finance Officer | £28-30k FTE | Historic Site Non-Profit | Permanent | 3 days a week minimum on site | West London
This Finance Officer position is a fantastic opportunity to join a respected organisation that looks after some of England's most important historic sites. You will play a key role in the day-to-day running of the finance function, ensuring accurate bookkeeping, smooth invoice processing, and timely reporting to support the Head of Finance and wider team. The role will require a hands-on approach, attention to detail, and a willingness to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a small, motivated finance team.
Key Responsibilities
* Process supplier invoices, expenses, and payments, ensuring accuracy and compliance
* Manage the finance inbox, responding to internal and external queries in a timely manner
* Reconcile bank accounts and balance sheet entries on a regular basis
* Support the preparation of monthly management accounts and reports
* Assist with payroll submissions and pension contributions
* Maintain accurate and organised financial records and filing systems
* Help prepare audit schedules and support annual reporting processes
* Liaise with suppliers, customers, and internal teams on finance-related matters
* Contribute to improvements in financial systems and processes
Person Specification
* Experience in a finance or accounts role, ideally with bookkeeping responsibilities
* Confident user of Excel with strong attention to detail
* AAT qualified or similar experience
* Familiarity with accounting software (Xero desirable)
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with a range of stakeholders
* Team player who is also comfortable working independently
* An understanding of basic accounting principles such as deferred income recognition
* Charity sector experience (desirable but not essential)
This is a brilliant opportunity to join a friendly, collaborative team making a real impact. The role will be office-based full-time for the first 4 weeks, moving to a minimum of 3 days a week in the office thereafter. Salary is £28-30k FTE with the option of a 4-day part-time role.
