Offer description

Are you passionate about supporting Rangatahi to realise their potential?

Te Taiwhenua o Heretaunga (TToH) is looking for an experienced Youth Support Worker to join our dynamic Rangatahi team based in Heretaunga. This is a full-time role, working Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5.00pm (40 hours per week).

This role focuses on supporting young people receiving the Youth Payment (YP) and Young Parent Payment (YPP). You will help them navigate challenges, access support, and work towards employment and independence.

About Us

TToH is a Ngāti Kahungunu mandated, kaupapa Māori, values-led organisation. For over 39 years, we’ve delivered quality health, social, education and community development services to whānau across the East Coast, from Māhia to Remutaka. Our approach is whānau-centred, grounded in Te Ao Māori, and committed to achieving positive, long-term outcomes.

About the Role

Based at our Orchard Road site in Hastings and reporting to the Team Manager, you will work directly with Rangatahi and their whānau in the community. You'll support them to identify goals, access entitlements, connect to services, and transition into education, training, or employment. Your mahi will make a real difference in the lives of young people and their tamariki.

Key Responsibilities

* Support Rangatahi and their whānau to access services such as YP/YPP payments, budgeting support, parenting programmes, Well Child providers, and Early Childhood Education.
* Build strong, trusting relationships to keep Rangatahi engaged in education, employment or training.
* Maintain an active caseload, ensuring all service standards, reporting, and contract milestones are met.
* Work collaboratively as part of an integrated team, delivering services in a culturally safe, professional, and empowering way.

We’re looking for someone who

* Has experience working with Rangatahi,
* Understands the policies and processes of the Ministry of Social Development (MSD), including benefit entitlements,
* Is confident using computers and online systems for applications, notes and reporting,
* Has a full, clean NZ driver licence,
* Brings strong knowledge of local communities and is grounded in Te Ao Māori values and tikanga.

What we offer

* 5 weeks annual leave
* Life insurance
* Birthday leave

Join us and be part of something that truly matters. If you’re passionate about working with Rangatahi and empowering whānau to thrive, we want to hear from you.

Applications close Monday 29 September, don't delay as we will be reviewing applications as they come in.

Apply today and help build brighter futures for our young people.
