We operate on a 6-week rota, covering various early and late shifts with flexible arrangements and additional hours. Some days may have unpredictable finishing times, but the schedule is provided in advance to help you plan your time off.
About the Role
As a PCO at our court, you will work as part of a team to provide safe and secure escorting and custody services, focusing on the physical and mental wellbeing of detainees. Responsibilities include overseeing detainees during court proceedings, accompanying defendants, conducting searches, ensuring provision of food and drink, and completing necessary paperwork.
What You Need
We value diverse backgrounds; previous experience is not essential. What matters is your commitment to making a difference. You will undergo a 5.5-week training course and learn from experienced colleagues. Ideally, you hold a valid driver’s license, are reasonably fit, and possess strong communication skills suitable for managing various situations. An interest in criminology or psychology is beneficial.
Assessment Process
Online assessment via email, a briefing call to assess eligibility, a competency-based virtual interview, followed by a short role-play and written exercise.
Additional Information
This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. Employment is subject to Ministry of Justice Enhanced Level 2 checks, DBS clearance, and satisfactory references.
