Are you passionate about swimming? Are you naturally caring and supportive? If so, we may have an exciting opportunity for you.
Here at Shropshire Community Leisure Trust, our goal is to get more people active by providing affordable, safe, and enjoyable lessons for all. Right now, we have the opportunity to train a new cohort of Swimming Teachers to grow our programmes and ensure we can do just that. If you are passionate about ensuring all children and adults have access to affordable lessons regardless of their ability or background, this role could be right for you.
We would like to hear from candidates who would like to step into a Swimming Teacher career and gain their qualification on our upcoming course (dates TBC). You will need to be available to attend all 5 consecutive days.
Following the tried and tested Swim England learn to swim framework, we develop confidence in our swimmers through fun and enjoyable lessons. Many of our swimmers have progressed to swim competitively and even to represent our country.
Teaching swimming lessons involves delivering safe, fun, and progressive lessons. We also prioritize our teachers' careers and personal development. We will contract you for as many or as few teaching hours as you want around your current commitments.
We cover the costs for safeguarding and DBS checks, so you don't have to. There's no need to hold personal insurance, as you will be covered by ours. Working with us allows you to work across all our leisure centres and provides excellent personal and career development opportunities through ongoing training.
All teachers receive a free membership to the leisure centre, plus an additional membership for a friend or family member.
Serco manages these facilities on behalf of the Trust.
What you'll need to do the role
Your role will involve interacting heavily with customers, so excellent communication and customer service skills are essential. You'll need to be passionate about swimming and delivering quality service, with motivational and organizational skills to conduct safe, fun, and progressive lessons. Enthusiasm is key; we will provide the training and qualification.
To be considered, you must be available to work evenings and weekends from April and willing to complete a lifesaving qualification (NRASTC or NPLQ).
This role requires a DBS check.
What we offer
* Free membership at the Centre plus heavily discounted use of classes and facilities.
* Free safeguarding training and DBS check.
* Excellent development and training opportunities.
* 6% employer-matched pension contribution.
* Up to 22 days of annual leave (Pro Rata) plus bank holidays.
* Access to all Leisure Benefits Employee Benefits (moreleisure.com).
