Overview
Everest House Surgery is seeking a dedicated and experienced Pharmacy Technician to join our primary care team. Based entirely at the surgery, this role is central to ensuring safe and effective management of patient medications. You will lead the medicines reconciliation process, support repeat prescription management, and contribute to medicines optimisation to improve patient outcomes. Working closely with GPs, nurses, and administrative staff, you will help maintain high standards of medication safety and regulatory compliance, while providing guidance to both patients and the practice team.
Responsibilities
* Lead the medicines reconciliation process.
* Manage repeat prescriptions and support medicines optimisation to improve patient outcomes.
* Collaborate with GPs, nurses, and administrative staff on medication-related matters.
* Maintain accurate records for audits and regulatory compliance.
* Provide guidance to patients on the safe and effective use of medications.
* Contribute to quality improvement initiatives to ensure high standards of medication safety within the practice.
* Work closely with the Clinical Pharmacist and other team members to ensure safe, effective care.
Qualifications
Essential
* Registered Pharmacy Technician (or equivalent accredited qualification).
Experience
* Knowledge of NHS prescribing systems, repeat prescription processes, and medicines reconciliation.
* Strong organisational and time-management skills, with attention to detail.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to liaise effectively with patients and the practice team.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Proactive approach to problem-solving and quality improvement.
* Commitment to patient safety, confidentiality, and high-quality care.
Desirable
* Experience of working in a primary care, clinical or NHS setting.
* Experience supporting medicines optimisation or audit activities.
* Familiarity with EMIS or other GP clinical systems.
* Knowledge of current NHS guidance and best practice in primary care prescribing.
