Senior Project Manager – HS2 (High Speed Two) Ltd
Location: Birmingham
Job Purpose: As a Senior Project Manager for Rail Systems delivery project(s) at HS2 you will be responsible for the successful delivery of the contract(s) to time, budget, scope and quality. You will manage the preparation for contract award and delivery of the works, bringing innovative technology to the UK railway and supporting this transformational project.
Job Description: This role is within the client team responsible for the Washwood Heath rolling stock depot & Network Integrated Control Centre (NICC) in Birmingham, a complex mix of civil engineering, buildings and rail systems scope.
Responsibilities
* Provide project management support to the Heads of Delivery / Project Client for allocated project.
* Support the successful delivery of Railway Systems objectives and outcomes.
* Interface with relevant Railway Systems stakeholders.
* Monitor and manage change generated from the Construction/Delivery teams, including scope and cost changes, escalating issues to Client Director / Head of Delivery.
* Robust reporting on the progression of project deliverables to the Head of Delivery and the programme at required forums.
* Develop, maintain and analyse project plans to identify and mitigate delivery risks.
* Implement mitigating actions and raise escalation for potential milestone slippages.
* Coordinate with the integrated HS2 team, agency staff and consultants to deliver project and contract requirements on schedule.
* Manage the package contractor(s) to ensure delivery to time, budget, scope and quality.
* Ensure integration of the project with related HS2 and Network Rail projects.
* Lead solution development for the named delivery projects.
* Provide controlled input to cost estimates, logistics, milestones and safety targets aligned with programme plans.
* Deliver assurance and governance across the named delivery project(s).
* Act as Project Manager under an NEC3 contract.
* Promote and embed Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in all work, supporting organisational initiatives and policies.

* Deliver complex civil, buildings and rail systems scope for the Washwood Heath rolling stock depot & Network Integrated Control Centre.

* Project management – develop, plan and integrate projects to optimise target costs and benefits (APM Project Manager advanced).

Knowledge
* Advanced project management knowledge (APM project manager level).
* Public procurement ethical and legal framework.
* Technical elements and architecture of relevant scope within HS2 programme.
* Contract structures and supplier performance systems.
* Contract reporting, project cost reporting, programme and business reporting.
* Risk identification and management.
* Project schedule management, dependencies and risk assessment.
* Stakeholder management and collaborative environments.
* Degree level qualification in project management, engineering, commercial management or equivalent experience.
Experience
* Entire project lifecycle experience including planning, procuring, developing and implementing railways systems projects.
* Cross‑function and cross‑discipline delivery of complex objectives.
* Supporting, developing and managing people directly and in a matrix environment.
