Overview
This is your opportunity to join a successful and growing food manufacturer in North Yorkshire in order to develop and lead their Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) agenda.
The company is part of a successful UK group of companies, which is itself a subsidiary of one of the largest food manufacturers in Europe so the possibilities for growth are real.
As Head of Safety, Health & Environment (SHE), you drive the H&S agenda and build and execute a robust Environmental agenda. You will be set up to succeed as the company is investing heavily, not least in the ESG projects.
The Role
The successful Head of Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) will:
Drive a proactive safety culture using established H&S frameworks.
Keep the sites Safety Management System current and effective.
Manage and mitigate risk across all areas of site operations.
Support and challenge teams to meet HSE KPIs and raise standards.
Lead audits, reviews, and investigations to identify areas for improvement.
Oversee training and awareness around safety and emergency procedures.
Ensure plant, equipment, and machinery meet legislative requirements.
Take responsibility for environmental compliance and sustainability risks.
Champion continuous improvement across health, safety, and environmental systems.
The Candidate
The successful Head of Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) will have:
A solid background in Health, Safety & Environment, with relevant qualifications (NEBOSH diploma or similar).
Senior-level experience leading SHE in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
A strong grasp of UK safety and environmental regulations and how to apply them practically.
A confident leadership style, with the ability to influence across all levels.
The skills to shape policy, write reports, and interpret technical data.
A keen eye for risk and the ability to act decisively and responsibly.
Clear communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
