Applications are invited for the role of Clinical Lead for Vascular Surgery. The post will be available for an initial -years period up to a maximum of years where applicable following advert and interview process.

The Department of Vascular Surgery at OUH provides Major Arterial Centre and hub for the Thames Valley Vascular Network (TVVN) providing vascular services across the BOB ICB. Close working links exist with Interventional Radiology, Sarcoma, Spinal Surgery, Gynaecology and General Surgery.

To lead the department, we are looking for an individual with senior clinical experience of Vascular Surgery as well as strong communication and negotiating skills, and a strong ethos for collaborative working.

The recruitment process will include a value-based interview as well as a formal interview, with the Panel including the Clinical Director and representatives of NOTSSCaN Division and of the Chief Medical Officer.

The post will attract SPA, which can either be in addition to the existing job plan, or replace other activity. A job plan can have a maximum of PAs.

Main duties of the job
1. Providing clinical leadership within the clinical service, working collaboratively with the Service Manager and the Nursing Leads within the Service
2. To work in a collaborative manner within the management structure of the Directorate
3. Monitoring the quality and safety of activities and proposing and implementing actions to address any concerns in conjunction with the Matron and Directorate Manager
4. Planning the delivery of efficient, cost effective clinical services within resources available
5. Promoting and leading innovation and improvements in clinical productivity and service delivery
6. Ensuring effective communication between the specialty and the Directorate and Divisional Teams. This includes in person communication, as well as timely engagement with and replies to e-mail communication.
7. Facilitating research and development, teaching and training
8. Develop/maintain links with key external organisations
9. Develop/maintain links with specialties within the Trust
