About the Organisation
Our client is a leading cultural institution, committed to connecting people with history, stories, and experiences in new and inclusive ways. As part of a bold transformation strategy, they are now building a central data capability to help deliver more personalised experiences, increase engagement, and drive smarter decision-making across the organisation.
If you’re passionate about using insight to influence strategy and want to work in a mission-led environment, this is a rare opportunity to lead a transformation from the ground up.
The Role
As Data Strategy Lead, (Internal grading: Senior Manager) you’ll build and lead a new in-house data function. From creating a centralised data warehouse to embedding analytics into marketing, operations, and membership strategy. You’ll be at the centre of the organisation’s shift toward insight-driven decision-making.
You’ll lead a small team and be the go-to voice for data across the organisation, acting as both a strategic advisor and a cultural change agent.
This isn’t just a reporting role, but a chance to create something lasting. You can shape how a beloved institution measures impact, connects with new audiences, and plans for the future.
You’ll Be Responsible For…
* Defining and leading a data strategy aligned to organisational goals, acting as the primary advocate for insight-driven decisions, with execs, trustees, and internal teams
* Managing a new team (Data Analyst and Data Engineer)
* Leading the rollout of a new cloud-based data warehouse, with support from external partners
* Championing the use of data across marketing, membership, eCommerce, sustainability and operations
* Embedding data governance, compliance, and best practices
Who We’re Looking For
* Strong leadership experience within data, analytics or strategy functions
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, especially with non-technical audiences
* Experience implementing or managing modern data platforms and cloud environments (e.g. Azure, AWS, GCP)
* Familiarity with BI tools (Power BI, Looker) and data warehousing platforms (e.g. Snowflake, Redshift)
* Comfortable in build-phase environments — someone who thrives on shaping new functions and culture
Why This Role is Unique
* You’ll own data transformation, building a modern, respected data capability from day one
* Your work will directly impact how a nationally recognised institution serves its mission
* You’ll engage at senior levels and help shape future hiring, tooling, and strategy
* You’ll leave a visible legacy, in an environment that values trust, creativity, and impact over bureaucracy
* Hybrid working with flexible arrangements
* Enhanced holiday entitlement
* Generous employer pension (up to 11%)
* Bonus scheme and annual pay review
* Life assurance and critical illness cover
* Discounts and perks across cultural sites and services
Interview Process
* 30 minutes screening call with Recruitment Partner (Video-call)
* First round (Video-call) - 15 minutes call with Hiring Manager and Data Leader for cultural fit
* Second round (In person) - Presentation-based interview using a scenario task
* Third Stage (Video-call) - Short final follow-up
Make Insight Count
This is more than a data role, it’s a leadership opportunity to shape how a purpose-driven organisation uses information to connect with people, grow sustainably, and lead with clarity.
