The Respiratory Department based at Watford General Hospital and the post-holder will be accountable to the relevant Respiratory Consultant on their ward.
Doctors are expected to become competent at organising the day-to-day duties of the clinical areas.
The post-holder will be expected to work closely with appropriate nursing, professional, technical, and administrative and support staff.
The post-holder will be responsible for ensuring adequate clinical notes are made in accordance with good medical practice.
The post-holder may, on occasions, be asked to assist in the teaching of medical students.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage and review inpatients under the care of the respiratory team, including acute admissions and patients with chronic respiratory conditions.
* Support the running of outpatient clinics and diagnostics such as pleural procedures, bronchoscopy, and lung function testing.
* Participate in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings, case discussions, and ward rounds.
* Contribute to clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, and teaching of junior colleagues and students.
* Work collaboratively with the wider medical and nursing teams to ensure patient safety, continuity of care, and service efficiency.
