Job Description
Amazon is seeking a Senior Tax Analyst to join the EMEA Tax Department based in London or in Luxembourg to support the Amazon Web Services (“AWS”) cloud computing business, focusing on corporation tax advisory.
The role will focus on corporate tax matters including the interaction with withholding, indirect, transfer pricing and other tax areas. It involves advising the AWS business on a variety of topics across multiple jurisdictions in EMEA, liaising with other tax and compliance functions as well as other business lines within Amazon, and dealing with ad‑hoc enquiries and audits.
Key Responsibilities
* Managing and coordinating tax requirements for country expansions and new program launches.
* Providing relevant tax guidance to the business whilst working to build relationships and understanding with the business so that adherence is maintained.
* Supporting on ad‑hoc projects such as restructuring or transactions involving the AWS business.
* Researching international tax issues and working with outside advisers as necessary as part of the tax team supporting business initiatives.
* Engaging with outside tax advisors to support tax projects.
Basic Qualifications
* Experience working in a large public accounting firm or multi‑national corporate tax department
* Bachelor's degree or alternative relevant business qualifications (eg Chartered Tax Adviser, ACCA, CIMA, etc.) or relevant experience / qualification with Tax Authorities
* Demonstrable experience in indirect tax, preferably in the EU (experience gained in advisory, rather than compliance)
* Experience gained working in a business involved in multinational activities (ie not just domestic) within an indirect tax function or a legal or accountancy firm, or tax authorities with exposure to multinational taxpayers / cross‑border transactions.
Preferred Qualifications
* CPA, or J.D.
* Experience in managing multiple, competing priorities simultaneously
* Experience in written and verbal communication skills to communicate with technical and non‑technical audiences, including senior leadership
* Excellent analytical skills with the ability to understand processes and systems.
* Ability to work in a fast paced, informal and often ambiguous environment.
Location: London or Luxembourg.
