The job itself
We are seeking a compassionate, patient, and reliable individual to support a 12-year-old girl with autism and ADHD in her home environment 4 hours per week, before school and during the school holiday.
This role involves providing meaningful, person-centred support to the young person, while also helping to maintain a positive, safe, and engaging atmosphere for both her and her sibling. You will work closely with the family to deliver support in the family home that is tailored to individual needs, offering both emotional and practical support, and encouraging the development of her social and life skills.
The ideal candidate will be able to work independently while also collaborating effectively as part of a supportive family team. Flexibility and a responsive approach are essential, as the role requires adapting to the young girl's changing needs.
This role requires a person who is willing to be flexible and adapt to the young girl's needs, working with a family who is deeply committed to her well-being and development. This is a part-time position for two hours per week.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
1. Supporting the young person in the family home
2. Providing one-on-one support and, assisting with activities and routines.
3. Offering support with communication, and emotional regulation.
4. Assisting in promoting independence, using techniques that work best for the young person.
5. Supporting and encouraging the child's individual goals and interests.
6. Supporting the young person get ready for school
7. Always ensuring a safe and supportive environment, respecting privacy and dignity.
