We're supporting an innovative technology organisation delivering cutting-edge AI and data-driven solutions into Defence and National Security environments. As they continue to expand their advanced analytics and AI capabilities, they're looking for an experienced Data Scientist to join their growing team in Farnborough.
This is an opportunity to work on complex, mission-critical challenges where Artificial Intelligence, Large Language Models (LLMs), Graph Technologies, and advanced analytics are helping solve real-world operational problems.
What You'll Be Doing
* Designing and developing AI and Machine Learning solutions to support Defence and National Security programmes
* Building and deploying Large Language Model (LLM) applications and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures
* Developing solutions leveraging graph databases and knowledge graph technologies to uncover complex relationships and patterns
* Applying statistical analysis, machine learning, and predictive modelling techniques to large-scale datasets
* Working with structured and unstructured data sources to deliver actionable intelligence and insights
* Collaborating with software engineers, architects, and product teams to operationalise AI solutions
* Supporting the evaluation, testing, and optimisation of AI models within secure environments
* Contributing to AI strategy, innovation, and research initiatives across the organisation
What We're Looking For
* Active SC Clearance
* Experience working as a Data Scientist, Machine Learning Engineer, AI Engineer, or similar role
* Strong Python development skills and experience with modern data science libraries
* Hands‑on experience with Large Language Models (LLMs), Generative AI, and prompt engineering
* Experience designing and implementing RAG solutions
* Knowledge of graph databases such as Neo4j, Amazon Neptune, TigerGraph, or similar
* Experience developing machine learning and predictive analytics solutions
* Strong understanding of data modelling, data pipelines, and data engineering principles
* Familiarity with cloud environments such as Azure, AWS, or GCP
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to varied stakeholders
* Knowledge of Knowledge Graphs and Graph Analytics
* Experience working within Defence, National Security, Government, or highly regulated environments
* Exposure to MLOps and model deployment practices
* Experience with vector databases and semantic search technologies
* Understanding of AI governance, ethics, and security considerations
