Overview
Cheshire and Wirral Partnership Foundation NHS Trust are looking to recruit a Full-Time (10 Sessions) Consultant Psychiatrist within our Birkenhead and Wallasey Adult & Older Peoples Mental Health Service.
The successful applicant will provide leadership to community staff and community care to patients with dementia (and related conditions) and severe and enduring mental disorders aged 65 and above. You will have an important role in developing community services in Wirral. The post holder is also expected to provide flexible cover to other old age community consultant psychiatrists in the Wirral. The consultant will participate in the Consultant Psychiatrist on-call rota.
Hours: Full time - 10 sessions per week (+ 1 Flexible PA)

Main duties of the job
* Manage, appraise and provide professional supervision to junior medical staff as agreed with the medical director and in accordance with the Trust's policies and procedures. This may include assessing competences under the Modernising Medical Careers framework.
* Undertake administrative duties associated with patient care.
* Record clinical activity accurately and comprehensively, and submit it promptly to the Information Department.
* Participate in service and business planning for the locality and, where appropriate, for the whole mental health service.
* Participate in annual appraisal for consultants.
* Attend and participate in the Trust's academic programme, including lectures and seminars as part of the internal CPD programme.
* Maintain professional registration with the General Medical Council, Mental Health Act Section 12(2) approval, and adhere to professional codes of conduct.
* Engage in annual job plan reviews with the clinical manager and relevant managers to ensure the post reflects service changes.
* Collaborate with local managers and colleagues to ensure efficient running of services and contribute to management as part of the medical team.

Qualifications and requirements
Essential criteria:
* Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
* Included on the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months.
* Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment.
* Approved under S12 OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment.
Desirable criteria:
* In good standing with GMC with respect to warnings/conditions on practice.
* MRCPsych or equivalent, and additional clinical qualifications welcome.
* Wide range of specialist and sub-specialist experience relevant to NHS posts.
Essential qualifications:
* MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.

* You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
