Offer description

Are you passionate about gender equality and want to be part of a group of women and girls influencing policy across the city-region? If so, you could be one of our next cohort of Panel members! In 2020 the Greater Manchester Combined Authority established a Women and Girls Equality Panel, alongside 6 other equality panels, to accelerate gender equality in the city-region and highlight the voices of those not traditionally included in policymaking. The Panel works towards a vision for all women and girls across the ten boroughs of Greater Manchester and beyond to have equal opportunity to start well, live well and age well. The Panel meets periodically, and works to: Advise, support, and challenge the GMCA, the Mayor, and partners on key issues and the inequalities facing women and girls. Undertake specific pieces of work to reduce the inequalities experienced by women and girls in the city-region. Ensure that gender equality is actively considered by GMCA, and the wider Greater Manchester system, in decisions made to help make the city-region a better place to live, work, study and do business. We are looking for women and girls over the age of 16* who: Are passionate about tackling sex and gender inequality and discrimination wherever they find it, from an inclusive and intersectional perspective. Have strong links to communities, as well as the ability to advocate for their perspectives and needs. Have first-hand experience of or insight into the issues the Panel will focus on. Panel members will commit to: Providing a minimum of 12 half days to the work of the Panel annually (equating to around 3.5 hours a month), to include attending meetings, taking forward any actions that have been agreed, and reporting back progress to the panel. Following the Code of Conduct and Terms of Reference. Championing the work of the Panel to encourage wider participation and buy-in to its work. We particularly encourage women from diverse and minoritised backgrounds to apply as we look to strengthen the diversity of the panel. The deadline for application submission is Sunday 18th January 2026. We will reach out to successful candidates by the end of January, you will then receive and complete an induction. Further information about the Panel and it’s work can be found on our page on GMCA’s website. If you require information in different format or have any other questions, please feel free to email womenandgirls@pankhursttrust.org. * Panel membership is open to all women over 18 living and/ or working in Greater Manchester who want to apply. Girls and young women between 16 and 18 can apply if they are able to attend meetings with a parent/carer or an adult representative from an organisation they are affiliated with, such as a youth worker.
